Gilbert

This pristine town excels in simple amenities.

Welcome to Gilbert

Overview

If you’re looking for the perfect balance of relaxed town and vibrant city, the east valley Town of Gilbert might be an excellent option for you. In fact, after living in the Phoenix Metro’s East Valley for decades, I’ve found it difficult to locate an area of the town that isn’t inviting.

Location & Lifestyle

Bordered largely by Mesa, Chandler, and Queen Creek, the Town of Gilbert serves as a nice middle ground in the ever-expanding landscape of the East Valley. As such, much of Gilbert is proximal to either the Loop 202 freeway or the US 60, providing access to neighboring cities and arteries to head further toward central Phoenix or Scottsdale. Despite being mostly landlocked, Gilbert is one of the larger cities in the Phoenix Metro by population with over a quarter of a million residents, placing it in a similar category with Chandler, Scottsdale, and Glendale. With such a large population residing both in and around Gilbert, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Town has multiple attractive landmarks to satisfy residents and visitors.

First, one could not do the town justice without discussing Downtown Gilbert. This nook has spent years morphing into a vibrant, upscale dining location, reinforced by experiences such as the Hale Theater, Level 1 Arcade Bar, and The White Rabbit speakeasy. If you’re looking for a worthy shopping destination, the SanTan Village strip mall is the place to be and is similarly flanked by food and entertainment options. For those who prefer a more nature-driven lifestyle, Gilbert’s Riparian Preserve is a welcome oasis in our desert, while parks like Freestone and Discovery provide ample opportunities to get outdoors without leaving the Town.

These desirable traits do not come without noteworthy costs. As of mid-2023, the median sales price for detached single-family homes in Gilbert was well over the norm for the Phoenix metro at approximately $560,000. Even that figure represents a respite of sorts after peaking near $635,000 in 2022.
